Everyone is affected by the climate crisis. Taking action on the issue through Greenlight has particular appeal to those under 25, who are known as Generation Hot, because their entire lives will be shaped by global warming. They want to be a part of solutions, but benefit from mentorship in working through the challenges of this complex, and sometimes overwhelming issue.
Greenlight took seven emerging artists with training in storytelling and theatre and took them through a process of direct mentorship on climate change. This mentorship gives those creators a way to take the enormous scale of Time and Space that climate change is part of and supports them to understand their personal connection. They identity how the climate issue is theirs to affect. It gives them the Greenlight to move from overwhelm into action.
The seven videos of Greenlight were disseminated through the social media accounts of the David Suzuki Foundation and garnered over 50,000 views.
